ENERGY STAR AUDIT FOR EXISTING HOMES
Step 1: The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Inspection
Top to bottom energy inspection by a specially-trained service provider using state-of-the-art equipment. Except your auditor to look at:
Common areas for air leaks such as your attic or basement
Your home’s heating and cooling systems and ductwork
Your home’s windows and doors
Your home’s lighting, appliance and water heater
Your home’s water usage.
The auditor will also perform a series of diagnostic tests, including:
Air Infiltration testing (Blower door)
Duct leakage testing
Combustion safety testing
Upon request, a service provider can review and analyze at least twelve months of your home’s utility bills.
Improving your Home’s Energy Efficiency
After the auditor inspects your home , he will assist you in selecting the most cost effective improvements that will be the best investments.
NEW HOMES
While it’s easy to claim that homes are energy efficient, ENERGY STAR partners back that up with a third party inspection verifying the energy performance of your home. Independent Home Energy Raters conduct onsite testing and inspections to verify the energy efficiency measures, as well as insulation, air tightness, and duct sealing details. PA Home Energy is building a Service Provider network of New Home Energy Raters throughout Pennsylvania that will provide high-quality services to homeowners seeking to adopt ENERGY STAR standards in their homes.
